Open Week 1 Starts this Thursday!!
The CrossFit Open is the beginning of the Games season. It is entirely online, lasts 5 weeks, and helps find the fittest in the world.
Every Thursday, a workout is released. There will be Rx and Scaled options for the workouts, along with different divisions for our athletes (teen, masters, etc.). If you have never done the Open in the past, it really is a great opportunity to set goals, gauge your overall fitness, and enjoy the CrossFit community. In addition to all of that, for the first time, we will be creating our own intramural teams to compete. There will be 4 teams, each captained by a member of our community. We are hoping to get more people involved than ever and really have a positive and fun experience!
So far, Jeff and myself have chosen four team captains that we thought would be great leaders for this inter-box competition. The captains are Tiffany, Reilly, Danny, and Emily Glover. Today they made first drafts of the members that had already signed up for the Open 2017.
Current Captains and teams are listed below:
Brad, Moss, Courtney, Jeremy, Jill, Kayla, Marcus, Paul, Ryan E.
Adrian, Ben, Cal, Jake, Jason, Jenessa, Jess and Qwen.
Billy, Boma, Casey, EMT, Lamonster, sticks, Subaru and Tim
Aidan, Bird, Hunter, Jen C, John W, Malisa, Mary and Sarah Beast.
1 Point – Attendance: every member of a team that completes an Open workout each week earns one point. Maximum one point per athlete per workout (i.e. you do not get bonus points for redoozies)
1 to 3 Points – Top 3: The male and female members who place among the top 3 on the K3CF team for each workout will earn points for the irteam (3 points for 1st, 2 points for 2nd, and 1 point for 3rd). The top 3 athletes in both the scaled and rx’ed divisions will earn points for their team.
5 Points (team) – Spirit: The team with the most noise, pride, and PRESENCE each week will receive 5 bonus points.
8 Points (team) – Team Bonding: If your team gets together socially outside of the gym (ALL of you – pic posted on our FB page as proof)…you get points. This is a one time bonus, you can do it as many times as you like but it will only earn you points once. It can be done at any point during the 5 weeks.
10 Points – 6th WOD winner: We will be announcing our own special 17.6 workout for all teams to take part in the final week of the open. It will be fun and fabulous and the winning team gets 10 points.
Bonus Points: throughout the Open, we may give out points to those we think have earned them! This may start as early as the team naming phase (wink wink hint hint…choose a good name).

*Side Note- although our box is divided into inter mural teams, everyone will still be supportive and cheering on everyone for the Open.

Friday Night Lights
For the Next 5 weeks our schedule will be a little bit different on Fridays. Friday Morning 5am and 9am for the next 5 weeks will be as normal. The afternoon will be dedicated to the athletes competing in the open. We call this our Friday night lights!! We will run heats starting at 4:30 and ending at 7:30. Make up workouts can be done on Saturdays during open gym or Sundays. Let us know if you have scheduling issues. We try to be as flexible as possible to get our athletes in at a time that is convenient for them to get the workout done and judged properly. We look forward to seeing all of the athletes compete and kick ass this year! Cannot wait for the fun and games to begin!
